What to Prepare . . .
AUDITIONS
VCP Auditions are very relaxed and we like people to have fun at their audition. As these are company-wide, or general auditions, we will be asking everyone to do a bit of improv, perform a monologue, and sing a song. And, you will be auditioning on a virtual orange carpet (we're not kidding!).
Some additional info:
Song
We realize that not everyone has singing experience. If you would like to come into the room and sing "Happy Birthday" or "Mary Had A Little Lamb", that's awesome! We just want to hear what your voice sounds like and to know that you are willing to sing in front of people. If you would like to be considered for Show Choir, you may want to prepare a song that best demonstrates your vocal abilities. If you would like to use a CD, MP3, etc. for your accompaniment music (no vocals), please have the device with you (including speakers). Just a heads up, we often will ask people to sing a cappella (without accompaniment), so don't be too surprised if this happens to you.
Monologue
When you arrive at your audition, we will supply you with a choice of our standard audition monologues. You will have a few minutes to read it over before you come in to audition for us. You are not expected to memorize this monologue, but do your best to look away from the page when you are performing for us. At the same time, if you would prefer to prepare your own monologue, you are more than welcome to.
Improv
Everyone has to do it, even if you're not interested in the Vanier Improv Company (VIC). Again, it's about being willing to try. Because this is Improv, there's absolutely NOTHING that you can do to prepare for it in advance.
If you have any further questions/concerns, please email us at info@vaniercollegeproductions.com
We can't wait to see you at the auditions!!!
